The Paint Union Association is one of the oldest Baptist associations in the eastern part of Kentucky having been organized in April 1838 by six churches from the Burning Springs Association. Paint Union traces its roots back as follows: 
   Burning Springs Association was organized in 1813 by the North District Association of United Baptists. North District Association was organized
in 1802 by the South Kentucky Association. The South Kentucky was organized in 1787 and was the third association to be organized in Kentucky. Paint Union currently has churches in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
